Frequently Asked Questions

If you don’t find the answer to your question here send me an email at ann@annrothart.com or message me using the connect menu at the top of the page.

What media do you use in your paintings?

I work mostly with water based materials such as acrylic paint and inks and pencils.  My work often includes collaged paper either found paper ephemera or papers that I have hand painted. Occasionally I use fabric or thread in my work.

The substrate for my paintings is either cradled wood panel or canvas and whichever has been used on a particular painting will be clearly stated in the painting description.

Smaller works are on paper.

Are your paintings framed?

Much like buying art, framing is a personal choice so most of my work comes unframed.  If a work comes framed, that is specifically stated in the description of a particular work.

Paintings on cradled wood or canvas that are unframed have hand painted or raw wood finished side edges. Many people prefer this modern look however these paintings can be framed by the collector if they choose to do so.

My works on paper are made on artists papers and come mounted in archival quality mats and are unframed. Each one of a kind mini painting/art card is also mounted on acid free card stock and comes with its own envelope ready for sending and can easily be framed in a standard sized picture frame.

Will my painting be ready to hang?

Yes, all paintings on cradled board or canvas come with picture wire already affixed and ready to hang. You just need to decide where!

Will my work on paper be ready to hang?

No. Work on paper comes in a protective sleeve. It’s up to you to decide if and how you want to frame or display it.

My favourite painting has sold – how can I be sure to know about new work?

Make sure you join my mailing list to find out when new work is available. You can also follow my studio progress and see work in progress photos and videos on my Instagram or Facebook pages.

How will my work on paper be wrapped?

Works on paper will be carefully wrapped to protect the work from bending or crushing and will be sent in a padded envelope or box.

How will my painting be wrapped?

It depends on size, but paintings will be carefully packed using corner protection, bubble wrap and cardboard. Each one is unique so I take care that the painting(s) are well protected to arrive in perfect condition.  For further details about delivery please see our Purchasing and Shipping Policy.

Do you do special commissions?

I do take commissions but the timing has to be right.  If you like my work, check out my gallery and you might find something there that is just what you're looking for!
